Hurray, it is March!!! We hope the snow of February is behind us and Spring will be just around the corner. Spring brings a sense of excitement and new activities; baseball, soccer, yearbooks, Daylight Savings Time, SOLs, etc. WD's website hopes to keep you informed of upcoming events and to let you know what is going on at your child's school. Are you looking forward to spring, warm weather and an abundance of things to do?
PTA will have a PTA SOL Game Night on March 8th at 7 PM, every year we have a good time playing games as we learn more about the upcoming SOLs. Third Grade will also be performing for us, which is always a treat. That same day yearbooks will be going on sale for $13.00. You can pre-pay until April 1st, yearbooks will be delivered later in the school year. If your child is in the WD chorus then their picture will be taken on March 9th. students should wear black bottoms and white tops for the chorus picture. Our regular Spring pictures will be taken on March 11th, more information will be coming home soon.
Daylight Savings Time begins March 14th, so remember to set your clock ahead one hour. March 16 and 17 will be the 5th grade Writing SOL. On Tuesday, the multiple choice test will be given and Wednesday will be the direct writing portion. Please encourage all 5th grade students that you know to do their best.
Thanks to the snow, our Spring Break has been shortened to Friday, April 2nd and Monday, April 5th. Students will return to school on Tuesday April 6th. As the days get warmer, please encourage your children to continue reading, you might even find a book about a Spring activity.
