Positive Office Referrals
Great Way to Recognize Students at School Daily!
Our students can now be formally recognized for their positive behavior choices during the school day through the use of a positive office referral. Teachers and staff may complete these referral forms, and students will be recognized by the principal. Parents are also notified of their child's referral with a letter that is sent home.

Westmoreland County Public Schools will open prior to Labor Day for the 2020-2021 school year. Pending legislative approval, the first day for students will be August 10, 2020. This early start date will allow students to complete the entire first semester, including state assessments and final exams, prior to the Winter Break.
Raptor Visitor Management System
Westmoreland County Public Schools are pleased to announce that we will begin using the Raptor Visitor Management System in all of our schools to strengthen our program of campus safety for students and faculty. Part of keeping students and faculty safe is knowing who is in our buildings at all times, and the Raptor system will allow us to do that. The Raptor system will better allow us to screen visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our schools and provide us with a safer environment for our students and staff. The new system should not be viewed as a deterrent to parents/volunteers or access to the campus. Rather, the intent is to insure all visitors are registered in the office and screened prior to having access to the campus.
This system requires the visitor/parent to present a government issued picture ID (any state or country) to enter school grounds or to check out a student from school. If a parent or guardian for any reason does not have a US government-issued ID, the school staff member can use other/alternate forms of identification and manually enter the person’s name into the Raptor system. The system has the ability to provide alerts regarding people who may jeopardize the safety of students. Prior to gaining access to the campus, all visitors are screened using the public sex offender database. This is NOT a background search -no other criminal information, immigration status, or financial background is searched or provided to school personnel.
Once entry is approved, Raptor will issue a badge that identifies the visitor, the date, and the purpose of his/her visit. A visitor’s badge will not be necessary for those who visit our schools simply to drop off an item in the office or pick up paperwork. The safety of our students is our highest priority and the Raptor visitor management system allows us to quickly identify those that may present a danger to our students.
